Tamala Michelle Peters (Ritz) – Celebration of Life
“With a spark that could light up the darkest room, Tamala Michelle Peters (Ritz) graced this world on February 4th, 1971, in Medicine Hat, born to the proud parents Mary and Curly Ritz. She danced her way into the hearts of many and left this world peacefully, surrounded by love, with her daughters Cersten and Brayden by her side in Edmonton on March 8th, 2024. Leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and boundless energy.”
Tamala, the youngest of the Ritz trio, brought the perfect blend of energy and mischief to the family dynamic, sandwiched between her two much older brothers, Leon and Faron. They were the original Three Musketeers, with Tamala adding her own sprinkle of sparkle to their adventures. Whether it was getting into innocent mischief or concocting elaborate schemes, the Ritz siblings were an unstoppable force of fun and laughter. They shared countless memories, from backyard escapades to epic road trips, each moment infused with Tamala’s infectious spirit and zest for life. Tamala brought an effervescent energy wherever she went. From a young age, she bowled her way to success, traveling far and wide for competitions, making cherished memories camping with her family along the way. With a voice as beautiful as her spirit, Tamala enchanted audiences and won hearts with her singing talents.
After tossing her cap in the air at Medicine Hat High School in 1988, she crossed paths with Doug Peters, her future children’s father, in a local bar around 1991. Juggling schooling between Red Deer and Drumheller, Tamala pursued her dreams in the medical field while her soon to be fiancé tore up the dirt bike tracks. In August of 1993, Tamala and Doug tied the knot in a celebration as vibrant as their love. Together, they rode into the sunset, quite literally, as Tamala became a Women’s Pro rider for the Wild Rose Association. Their life motto, “2FAS4YA Racing,” echoed their passion for speed and adventure, leading to wild escapades and even owning a Wedding Dress Store!
Transitioning from saving lives to enforcing the law, Tamala found joy as a bylaw officer in Drumheller, patrolling the streets with a smile and reuniting lost pets with their families. From flower shops to courtrooms, there was no job too small or too big for Tamala, always adding her unique spin to everything she did.
Tamala embraced motherhood with open arms in 1995 when her first daughter, Cersten, came into the world, a spitting image of her mom’s fiery spirit and outgoing nature. With her big personality and endless curiosity, Cersten kept Tamala on her toes from day one, and Tamala couldn’t have been prouder. Then, in 2000, Brayden joined the family, a gentle, peacekeeping soul who brought a sense of calm to their lively household. Tamala adored being a mom, boasting about her girls to anyone who would listen. She was their biggest cheerleader, whether chasing them around the country for ball games, bowling tournaments, or school events. Motherhood was Tamala’s greatest joy, and she poured her heart and soul into creating magical moments for her girls. And when it came to celebrations, Tamala pulled out all the stops, handcrafting cakes, birthday cards, and elaborate desserts that earned her the title of the neighborhood’s dessert queen. Her love wasn’t limited to her human family members; she had a soft spot for all things cute, especially her beloved Sheltie puppies like Trini, who brought endless joy to her life.
In 2015, Tamala embarked on a new chapter in Edmonton after parting ways with her children’s father, diving headfirst into the world of construction of cryptocurrency buildings with a passion that lit up every room she entered. She wasn’t just a whiz with numbers; she was also a beacon of safety and community spirit, actively involved in Citizens on Patrol and Crime Stoppers in both Drumheller and Edmonton. Even in the midst of conferences in Albuquerque or delivering a baby in an Edmonton parking lot, Tamala’s kindness knew no bounds. Joining her brother Leon at Ritz Exteriors in 2021, she brought her trademark flair and enthusiasm to every project. But it wasn’t all work and no play for Tamala; she loved nothing more than dominating pool tournaments in Vegas, reveling in the city’s excitement alongside friends and family. Throughout it all, Tamala remained a shining example of warmth, love, and dedication, especially to her daughters, whom she cherished beyond measure. She dedicated over 12 years to her sobriety, always striving to do right by her girls. Tamala’s legacy of love and light will continue to inspire all those who were lucky enough to know her.
