Stacey Jane Meulenbelt

Stacey Jane Meulenbelt passed away peacefully, at the age of 28, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on January 20, 2018 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her mother, Joanne (Michael) Fleischer; father, Tony (Roxanne) Meulenbelt; sister, Melissa (Matt); stepbrothers, Sean (Trina), Joey, Ryan, Matthew, Justin & Branden; stepsister, Bryanna (Sam); grandmother, Jane Meulenbelt and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,cousins, and many very special friends. Stacey is predeceased by her grandparents, Lloyd and Joan Stevenson and grandfather, Aalt Meulenbelt.
Stacey was born on September 20, 1989 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. She grew up in Penhold, Alberta, attending school there until grade 10, where she then graduated from Innisfail High School in 2007. She began her post-secondary education at Red Deer College and then transferred to the University of Calgary, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. From there she continued on to numerous small jobs until she found her calling cleaning up train derailments for Tervita in Red Deer.
Stacey was a strong, brave woman who cared for everyone around her, especially her little sister, family, closest friends, and her kitty, Ginger-ale. Stacey lived in Blackfalds with her best friend, Chance Lang. Stacey enjoyed playing pool, going to paint nites, and travelling. Her family and friends will always remember her for her witty sense of humour and love for life.
A memorial service will take place at Eventide Funeral Home on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2:00pm, with a reception to follow. Friends and family are invited to come and celebrate her life. The family would like to extend a huge thank you to the staff of units 31 and 32 at the Red Deer Hospital, as well as her special team of doctors. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Stacey’s honour to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or The Canadian Transplant Society.
