Sidney Star Noel Townsend, born December 10, 1920, aged 98, passed away August 22. 2019 at the Kipnes Center for Veterans, Edmonton, Alberta. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Mike (Sharleen) and Terry (Susan), his grandchildren Dean (Kathy), Kelly (Youlanda), Angus, Penny, and Kalie, a great granddaughter, Hannah and two sisters, Isobel (Bill) and Eleanor (Norm).He was predeceased in 1999 by the love of his life, Iris (his WWII English war bride) and by two brothers and three sisters.

Sid was a staunch Legion member, a Boy Scout Leader, a long-time member of the Rock and Gem community, a loyal supporter of his son’s music and hockey activities, and an outstanding husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all.

A service will be held for Sid at the Eventide Funeral Chapel in Red Deer, AB at 11:00 am on August 29, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion in Red Deer or Onoway. Special thanks to the caring staff at the Kipnes Center for Veterans.
