Sharon Louise York of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on September 25, 2026, at the age of 62 years.
Sharon was born in Calgary, Alberta and grew up in Delburne, Alberta. Sharon was devoted to her family, her home and the things she loved most. Sharon was always taking care of people, spending most of her life as a weight loss consultant, as well as a supervisor at Victoria Park Senior Lodge caring for the elderly. Sharon then took on her parents’ tradition and business, which she made her own and started Slyson’s Perogies with her spouse George, becoming known as the “Perogy Queen”. Sharon loved camping, her family, dogs, Yahtzee, and many other card games that she played with family and friends. Sharon found happiness in making others happy.
Sharon is lovingly remembered by her spouse, Raymond George Simpson; four daughters, Laura Anderson, Michelle Duncan, Tracy Anderson, and Kelly Anderson; five grandchildren, Tyra, Kaiden, Shaela, Cassius, and Corbin; one great grandchild, Winston; two brothers, Greg York, and Mike York; and one sister, Deborah Patterson. Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Elisabeth (Betty) York.
A private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 – Arnot Ave, Red Deer AB T4R 3S6.
