It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sarah “Sally” Elizabeth Rangen on November 10, 2019, at the age of 87. She was an only child born to the late Rose and Jonty Cummings in Rimbey, Alberta on December 2, 1931. Sally rode her pony “Dandy” to school till 1944, teeter tottered with her dogs as companions and showed champion 4H short-horn cattle until 1949. Sally was employed by CIBC for 8 years in Eckville, Wetaskiwin and Red Deer. She met Henry in Eckville, they married in 1957 and moved to Red Deer in 1960. Together they enjoyed curling and competitive hose-coupling with the Red Deer Fire Department. She volunteered with Girl Guides of Canada for 15 years and bowled in a Ladies’ League for 18 years. She was an avid dancer as a member of the Central Alberta Dance Club, Legion and Golden Circle. She was ready to dance a jig at any time so long as the music was playing. Her dancing group made regular trips to Elnora, Nordegg and North Dakota for their shindigs. Sally enjoyed camping with her family and friends in the Rocky Mountains especially trips with English relatives. Sally travelled with family and close friends to Great Britain, the Mediterranean, Alaska, Panama Canal and New York. She had her Mom’s green thumb. The garden was overflowing with vegetables that she shared with other families and had a constant show of blooms. A consummate mother and homemaker, she was known for her baking, canning, knitting and sewing. She doted on her family pets plus grand-dogs, -kitties and -horses. Sally was immensely proud of her family and leaves nothing behind except beautiful memories. Sally will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Henry and her daughters, Kathy Cummins (Kelly Disney), Sheila Rangen (Stephen Leach) and Cheryl Rangen. Sally will be forever remembered by her extended family and dear friends for her kind heart and selfless ways. The family extends their gratitude to Unit 33 at Red Deer Regional Hospital, especially Drs. Swainson and Inglis and to the caring staff of the Red Deer Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., at West Park Church of the Nazarene, Red Deer. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Association of Alberta, Canadian Cancer Society or Red Deer Hospice Society.
