Mr. Samuel Charles ‘Sam’ Glover, beloved husband of Mrs. Lillian Glover of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully at his home, at Points West Living, Red Deer on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the age of 92 years. Sam was born on April 5, 1925 at Hillsdown, Alberta. At the age of fourteen, he skidded logs in the Rocky Mountain House Area, and then returned to the Pine Lake Area to farm with the neighbors, the Lawrence Brothers. Eventually, he ranched on Samesa Ranch in the Pine Lake Area for over sixty-five years. Sam played hockey, curled and was very active in the community. He enjoyed spending time with family and his grandkids. The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to the staff of Points West Living for their compassionate care for Dad, over the past nine months. Sam will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lillian of Red Deer; his children, Joy-Marie (Hammond) Jones of Edmonton, Alberta, Herbert Samuel (Shannon) Glover of Delburne, Alberta, Margaret Barbara (Don) Humphreys of Calgary, Alberta, Douglas John (Bev) Glover, also of Delburne, Anne Rose Jaremcio of Red Deer, Timothy Charles (Sandra) Glover of Pine Lake, Alberta, Rhoda-Lynn (Brad) Zimmer of St. Albert, Alberta, Sandra Jean (Bill) Ottosen of Huxley, Alberta and Cameron Allister (Robin) McKay of Nevada, USA; twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by two brothers, Harry Frederick (Diane) Glover of Lousana, Alberta and Douglas Glover of Lacombe, Alberta; a sister, Edith Drechsler of Red Deer; and a host of dear friends and neighbors. Sam was predeceased by his first wife, Thérèse Ruth Glover; daughters, Sylvia Jean Glover and Marjorie Glover; a son, Terrance William McKay; a grandson, Jamie William McKay; four brothers and six sisters. A Celebration of Sam’s Life will be held at the Delburne Community Hall, Delburne, Alberta on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Pat Dyson officiating. A Private Family Interment will be held at the Delburne Cemetery, Delburne, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Sam’s honor may be made directly to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.ca; Crohns and Colitis Canada at www.crohnsandcolitis.ca; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
