Ross Wayne Sanderson
October 1963 – July 2019
Ross was raised in Red Deer along with three sisters and two brothers. In his early years, he enjoyed country living and learned to operate machinery at an early age because of his Dad’s family business. In 1978, his family moved to Salt Spring Island, BC. Ross graduated from high school in 1980 before moving back to Red Deer in 1982. He got married in 1985, raising two children. Family was important to Ross, he was well liked, known as hardworking, funny, and was a respected member of the community.
Throughout the following years, Ross gained experience in various aspects of the trucking industry (Andy’s, Heck’s, Red Deer Bottling, Lee Tool, Alpha Milk, Downtons). In 1999, he became an owner operator at Mullen, doing heavy haul trucking all over North America. For the last 16 years, Ross had been trucking primarily in Alberta, moving equipment.
Ross leaves to mourn the loved ones of his life: his former wife Ginie Sanderson; his son Bow Sanderson (Lori); his daughter Tamara London; his siblings Marie (Jim) Smith, Marlane (Dave) Tully, Gordon (Josie) Sanderson, and Ron (Sharon) Sanderson; and all of his nieces and nephews and many good friends. Ross was predeceased by his baby brother Kenneth Sanderson; his father and mother Lloyd (Anna) Sanderson; his sister Jeanette Sanderson; and his niece Chantelle Boesgaard.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Harvest Centre, located at 4847A – 19 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, in the Heartland Room on Saturday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. Following the eulogy there will be a truck procession (convoy) from Red Deer to Blackfalds – one last ride to honour Ross.
