Ronald Robert Seutter of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at Bethany CollegeSide Care Home on January 8, 2026, with his wife Trudy and son Darren at his side. He passed very peacefully into his heavenly home to meet his dear Lord and Saviour, whom he loved and served.
Ron was born in Edmonton, Alberta, to parents Robert and Lily Seutter on July 27, 1943. He attended Leduc Composite High School. Following graduation, he worked in music sales for a year. He was a very good piano and guitar player. Later, he worked at the University of Alberta Bookstore. It was here that his creative artistic skills emerged. Ron’s cartoons soon appeared all over the bookstore. After a couple of years, he attended the University of Alberta, graduating with both a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Education. He began teaching at Trochu Valley Junior Senior High School in 1978. A year later, he continued his teaching career at Innisfail Junior Senior High School, where he taught until he retired in 2007. In his final year, he taught as a substitute teacher, completing his 30-year career.
He enjoyed life in retirement with his wife, their family (children and grandchildren), and the time it afforded him. Ron was a loved and respected teacher who always had time to talk with any students who sought his help. He loved teaching and the interaction with his students. The staff and students missed Ron greatly when he retired. Ron was a hard worker, helping to pay his way through school by taking summer construction jobs with his uncle until he graduated.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Trudy Seutter; son Darren (Olga) Amy; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Nikita Amy; brother Ray (Marilyn) Seutter; sister Grace (Manfred) Dreger; sister Emily Campbell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Norman (MariaRosa) McFarlane; brother-in-law and sister-in-law George (Darlene) McFarlane; sister-in-law Louisa McFarlane; brother-in-law Jerry Vilkas; and by numerous nephews and nieces.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Lily Seutter; brother Edward Seutter; brother-in-law Dan Campbell; niece Kristi Rae Seutter-Baker; father-in-law James McFarlane; mother-in-law Elsie McFarlane-Hoffe and her husband Bill Hoffe; sister-in-law Ethel Vilkas; brother-in-law Alex McFarlane and his wife Jackie McFarlane; and by his brother-in-law Chuck McFarlane.
Ron was a very caring, loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather whom we admired and respected greatly. He had a great sense of humour too, which everyone enjoyed. He was a respected gentleman by all who knew him. His warmth and caring nature will be sorely missed.
Ron, rest in peace now with Jesus!
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Bethany CollegeSide Care Home for the wonderful care given to Ron, with taking him to morning church services, concerts, and the many activities that he enjoyed; and to Faith Fellowship for the many times they took Ron to Sunday church services so he and Trudy could enjoy the services. Ron loved church services with the wonderful hymns and ministry, and his quiet way of talking to his heavenly Father.
