Roland Donald Bearchell

June 5, 1933 – October 1, 2022

 

We are saddened to announce that Roland passed away peacefully at the age of 89 years, with his wife of 68 years by his side.

Roland is survived by his wife, Kay; son, Monte (Debbie); Grand-Daughter, Carmen (Kyle Thorne); Grandson, Kelly; and Great-Granddaughter, Ally Thorne.

He is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Christina; five brothers, Ben, Tom, Albert, Jim and Sidney; three sisters, Grace Harper, Colleen Gould and Margaret Wight; and his mother in-law; Edith Dunne.

Roland was an ironworker with Local 720, building bridges and buildings across the western provinces. He had great interest in horse racing, which led him to owning thoroughbred horses, boarding and rehabilitating horses for friends.

He loved his family deeply, and we will miss him.  He was our rock.

Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful people at Westpark Lodge who cared for our loved one with compassion and tenderness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Eventide Funeral Home (4820 – 45 Street, Red Deer) on October 20, 2022 between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. o’clock.
