It is with profound sadness that we announce that Rodger William Cole passed away suddenly, February 23, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Wava Cole. Rodger will be lovingly remembered by his high school sweetheart and wife of 50 years, Jean; daughter Leslie (Damian); son Jeffrey (Allison); grandchildren Josh, Kaylin and Evan; sister Margo (Doug); sisters-in-law Janet, Lynn and Wendy (Bill); nieces, nephews and friends. Rodger loved nothing more than hitting the open road in his never-ending quest for the most unique antique treasures. He had a lifelong passion, and an imaginative talent for cooking that began at a very young age. Rodger even had his own food truck/catering business in high school. A hard worker, who owned and operated Coles Farm Services in Smoky Lake for many years. He then worked for the Provincial government in various capacities, his last positions were as Executive Director, Regional Development Branch for Alberta Economic Development and finally retiring as General Manager of The Business Link. Rodger, never really did retire as he continued to offer his expertise in economic development to municipalities in central Alberta. A kind and caring man, who was always available to lend advice or a helping hand. Rodger had a strong sense of community and served on various boards over the years, The Alberta Hospital Board of Directors and Pigeon Lake Chamber of Commerce to name a couple. At Rodger’s request a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made the Canadian Cancer Society.
