Richard James Wood

Richard James Wood, 58, of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully in his home on July 30, 2024 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Rick was born in Edmonton, AB but lived most of his life in Lethbridge. He spent some time in the military with an honourable discharge as 2d Lieutenant of the 20th Independent Field Battery attached to the 3 RCHA Battery of Brandon, Manitoba. He attended the University of Lethbridge where he achieved a Bachelor of Science in Geology before deciding to begin a career as a heavy duty mechanic.
He is survived by his wife Merinda Wood; his children Jonah Wood of Leduc, Ashley (Kevin) Imeson of Red Deer, Tanya (Rob) Noble of Airdrie, Brad (Lindsay) McCallum of Sherwood Park, Alexandra Mah; his grandchildren Aidyn, Easton, Niche, Abrielle, Maggie, Amareigh, Gabrielle and Jeana; his brother Barry (Cathy) Wood of Mountain View and their children Cody Wood, Matt Wood, and Jordan (Jonny) Low.; his niece and nephew Adam and Rachel Wood. He is predeceased by his parents Honourable James Arthur Wood and Joan Elaine Wood of Lethbridge, as well as his brother Allen Wood.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held August 10 at 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (3002 – 47 Ave, Red Deer).
