Rhea Catherine Bichel (Schultz) passed away at Hanna Health Centre on Jan. 15, 2022.
Rhea was born March 22, 1930 on the farm near Provost, Alberta to Anne and Anton Schultz. Rhea went to boarding school at Castor for high school and then to Edmonton to train to be a teacher. She taught for one year at Maple School near the home farm. Rhea married Nick in 1952 and they worked together for many years as town administrator and town clerk in several towns in Saskatchewan. They lived in Regina until 1993 when they moved to Red Deer. They spent most of their retirement years traveling during the winter to Arizona and doing volunteer work in Red Deer. Rhea was thoughtful and kind. She’d cut articles out of the newspaper that she thought you’d be interested in, and save them until she saw you. She always had something to give the great nieces and nephews, and later the great-great nieces and nephews that came to visit her.
Rhea will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Freda, Gladys, sister-in-law Irene, and her aunt Evelyn in Provost, aged 101. She will be remembered by her brother-in-laws George Heck (Rose), Phillip (Cathy) and sister-in-laws Betty, Edith and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Rhea was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Nick, and her brother Bill Schultz. She was also predeceased by brother-in-laws Pius Bichel, Bill Karmen, Willie Bichel, Rudy Brenda, and Al Badry. She was also predeceased by sister-in-laws Josie Kohlman (Vincent), Cecilia Stang (Richard) and Alice Mildenberger (John).
