He is survived by his wife, Sherry-Lynn, his children Tabatha and Brandon (Emily), and his dog, Hope. He is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Karen, and his foster sister, Jackie.
David was born on May 25th, 1952, in Washington DC to Marie and Frank Glawe and then grew up in Maryland. He studied European History at Concordia Sr. College in Ft. Wayne IL. He then went to Christ Seminary – Seminex in St. Louis MO to become a Lutheran pastor. His work with the church took him to Grand Cache AB, where he answered his first call. After some work in Jasper AB, he made his way to an interim call at Zion Lutheran Church in North Battleford SK where he met his wife Sherry-Lynn. He next went to Biggar SK where he was ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church In Canada and answered his first call at Redeemer Lutheran Church. He then served at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melville SK, and then retired out of Bethany Lutheran Church in Tilley AB, and Faith Lutheran Church in Rolling Hills AB. From retirement, he helped start Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church in Brooks AB and took great joy in continuing his ministry in that way.
David was a loving husband and father. He loved to preach and sing. He also enjoyed reading, keeping up on the news, and spending time with his family. He lived his life with an unwavering faith, studied the cannon and history of the church closely, and took great pleasure in being a part of the Lutheran church community. He will be deeply missed.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 11th at Lutheran Church of the Good Sheppard in Red Deer, AB. Rev. John Lentz will officiate and masks will be required.
