MEYER, Renate Gisela (Rene) 

Jul 10, 1945 – Dec 3, 2023  

Rene was born on July 10, 1945 in Chemnitz, Germany to Martha and Julius Knodel. She passed away peacefully on Dec 3, 2023, in Red Deer Alberta.  

She showed great strength and courage mixed in with humour through her final battle with cancer. Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Marc (Carrie), Nancy (Dave) McKeage, and Martin (Annie) and two adored grandchildren, Nadia and Lyla McKeage. She is also survived by siblings, Rosa (Glen) Semenchuk and Richard (Zennie) Knodel; two sister-in- law’s Gabriele Lengfeld and Bãrbel Hilzinger, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank.  

In keeping with Rene’s wishes cremation has taken place with no service.  

The family would like to thank the staff of the Red Deer Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness through Rene’s last days.  

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Red Deer Hospice, 99 Arnot Ave, Red Deer, AB T4R 3S6, or the charity of your choice.
