Raymond Clifford “Cliff” Campbell, born January 18, 1933, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away on March 24, 2026, in Red Deer, Alberta, at the age of 93.
Cliff lived a long and meaningful life grounded in family, hard work, and determination. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Sheila Beckley, and together they built a life that spanned more than five decades until her passing on March 26, 2006.
Cliff made Red Deer his home after moving there for work, and it remained the center of his life for decades. A natural entrepreneur, he purchased his father-in-law’s construction company and built it into Beckley Campbell Construction, which he owned and operated until 1976. In 1977, he partnered with Ken Cover to form Covell Oilfield Firefighting, remaining until 1982. He then established Prowest Safety, growing it into one of the largest oilfield safety companies in Western Canada before selling in 1989. In 1992, Cliff joined his son Scott and partner Pat MacDonell to form Centratech Technical Services; after Pat’s departure, Cliff and Scott continued as partners for many years.
Cliff was also actively involved in Alberta’s credit union system, serving as a member and board member of Parkland Savings and Credit Union and the Central Credit Union of Alberta, including nearly six years as President of Parkland.
Deeply committed to his community, Cliff was a member of Red Deer Lodge No. 12, A.F. & A.M., serving as Master of the Lodge. He was also a dedicated member of the Red Deer and Al Azhar Shriners, serving as President of the Red Deer Shrine Club and participating for many years in parades with the Shrine Motor Patrol.
Cliff and Sheila were lifetime members of the Moose Lodge in Red Deer. They also enjoyed many years wintering in Arizona, in Sun City and Mesa, where they shared countless rounds of golf, dinners, and laughter with friends. Cliff curled for many years at the Red Deer Curling Club and golfed at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. Through his work, Masonry, and the Shrine, he formed countless friendships.
Cliff was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sheila Campbell; his parents, Raymond Currie Campbell (Agnus) and Annie Jeanette Finch (Jack); and his brother, Lawrence Campbell.
He s lovingly remembered by his children: Garry Campbell (Patrice), Dana Klassen (Paul), and ScottCampbell (Ramona Freeman); his grandchildren: Korey Campbell (Jannelle), Dean Campbell (Kim), Tanis Phillips (Brian), Marsha Klassen, Adelle Baker (Abe), and Kyle Klassen (Kat); and 15 great-grandchildren.
Cliff will be remembered for his strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering commitment to his family and community.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Harmony Cottages and all the staff who were part of Cliff’s life over the past six years, for the compassionate care and support they provided until his passing.
In keeping with Cliff’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A private graveside service for immediate family will take place on April 10, 2026, at Alto Rest Cemetery.
