Pat (Patricia) Ann Perkins passed away on April 28, 2022 at the age of 75 years of age in Red Deer, Alberta. While Alberta was home for over 50 years, it was far from her childhood home of Mt. Carmel in Newfoundland and Labrador. Although the accent faded over time, that spirit never left.
She was pre-deceased by her parents Ted and Muriel Tremblett and her brothers Bert and John.
Pat’s kind heart and gentle soul will be remembered by the people she knew. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 46 years Lloyd, by her daughters Lisa (Stephan) and Susanne (Andrew) , her sisters Ruth (Michael), Helen (Paul) , and Kathy (Mike), her brothers Jim, Albert (Susan), Ted (Laura), and Gerard (Ellie) and nieces and nephews (Matthew, Bridget, David, Jane, Jennifer, Carolyn, Mark, Ryan, James, Rebecca, John-Martin, Edward, Steve, Kathleen, Allison) and her great nieces and nephews. It is her grandchildren Alexander and Madeleine who will miss their Nan most of all.
Pat’s family would like to give thanks to the team at the Red Deer Regional Hospital unit 33 for offering comfort to her in the final days. Through her life journey she received expert medical care from exemplary people and the family is grateful to all who have been part of her life by giving her life.
Because of the generosity of an anonymous person and their family and the amazing medical staff at the University of Alberta transplant unit, she received a double lung transplant and got the opportunity to breathe life for an extra eighteen years. For this reason, in lieu of flowers we ask that you sign your donor card, discuss your wishes with your family, and consider a donation to the Canadian Transplant Association https://www.canadiantransplant.com/donate-1.
A service will be held at 1pm on May 3 at Red Deer Funeral Home. Following that service, a gathering of her friends and family will be held to share stories, eat cheezies, play cards, sing a few songs, and find comfort in her memories and each other. She would have wanted her family to be together.
Pat was a kind person and a gentle soul. She had a quiet joy and a deep love of her family and friends. She was small in stature and mighty of heart.
