Nicole Deloris Labrecque passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on December 11, 2025, at the age of 73 years. Nicole was born on March 10, 1952, in Edmonton to Roger and Maria Cyr. She was the last of eight children. (Rogelle, Norm, Don, Bert, Guy, Remi, Claude)
Nicole grew up in Legal, Alberta, living on the family farm and helping in every way possible. Her family had strong ties to the local Catholic Church, where she often shared her musical talents. Nicole went on to complete her Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Alberta. During this time, she met her husband, Leo. Nicole and Leo were married in the spring of 1973 and moved to Leo’s family farm in Spirit River. Here, Nicole and Leo operated a successful farm, welcomed three children (Chantal, Marion, and Stefan), and became integral members of the community, with Nicole teaching at the school.
Leo and Nicole later moved to Red Deer in the summer of 1989, where they once again established themselves in the community, with Nicole teaching for various school boards and sharing her love of music, faith, and learning. After a 40-year career in teaching, Nicole entered a quieter time of her life, often found sharing her love of reading, travel, grandchildren, faith, and friends with Leo, with whom she was married for 52 years.
Nicole will be lovingly remembered by her husband Leo; sons Mario (Amy) and Stefan (LeeAnne); daughter Chantal and grandchildren Ayla, Aubrey, Ainslee, Ambrose, Aberdeen, Charlie, Gypsy and Janessa. Also to cherish her memory are her parents, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, cousins and numerous friends.
Funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6 – McMillan Ave., Red Deer AB, Friday, December 19, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to The Society of St. Vincent De Paul, 10804 – 109 St NW, Edmonton AB T5H 3C1.
