Nick will be lovingly missed by his wife Brenda, his two children, TJ Wassick and Layla Wassick. He will also be fondly remembered by his wife, Brenda Wassick; his parents, Lynne and Bud Wassick; his brother, Dalton (Suze) Wassick; his nephew, Henry and niece, Holly; his grandparents, Sonia and Carl; his mother-in-law, Sheila (Dean); and father-in-law, John (Maggie).
Nick grew up in Creston, BC, and moved to Red Deer, Alberta, at the age of 12. He had a deep passion for music, specializing in drums, but also an incredibly talented guitar player. He enjoyed playing piano and creating original songs.
An impressive athlete throughout his youth, Nick focused on basketball and played one season with the RDC Kings while continuing his music education. He later completed his music diploma at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton.
While living in Edmonton, Nick worked as a journeyman electrician at Simplified Controls, where he earned his Red Seal certification. Later, he joined his family in co-owning and operating Enviro-Pads Containment Systems with his brother and parents.
For many years, there was little Nick enjoyed more than dirt biking, exploring and riding single-track trails with both his wife and best friend, Greg Emmott. Planning routes, camping, and spending time on the trails brought him immense joy. He often camped just to get more riding in.
Nick also loved getting out on the river in his Firefish jet boat with family and friends. He enjoyed the adventure of navigating the water and would often say, “It’s always an adventure on the Fish.” He also took great pride in his adventure motorcycle had many trips planned out that he wanted to do.
Above all, Nick cherished being an incredible father, husband, brother, son (and son-in-law), and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Just know, Nick will be waiting for us all, on the trails, the river, or in the backcountry.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Red Deer Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12th at 10:30 a.m., with a time to share memories and enjoy coffee and tea to follow. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Ned’s Wish: https://nedswish.com/donating-funds/
