1930 – 2018
Nellie Thomson, nee Wintonyk of Red Deer, went to be with her Lord on January 24, 2018. Nellie was born in Rosthern, SK in February, 1930. Following high school graduation, she moved to Vancouver. In 1951-52 she attended the Naramata Christian Leadership Training School (NCLTS). She and Don began their long marriage on September 23, 1953. They lived on the family farm near Arden, MB. then moved to Flin Flon in 1957, and spent 10 happy years there before moving to Red Deer, AB. Nellie is survived by her loving husband Don, and their three children, Larry and his wife Marjorie of Edmonton and their children, Jack (Larissa), Faye (Glen) Smith, Claire McAvoy, and Dana (Shane) Berry. Fred and his wife Linda of Red Deer and their children, Tricia (Dan) McClaflin of Edmonton, Candice (Peter) Jorgesen of Edmonton, and Jonathan (Kim) of Calgary. Lois Sharp and her husband Maurice of Cupertino, California and their daughter Karli. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Nellie was predeceased by her brothers and their wives: William & Evelyn, Steve & Mildred; a sister, Una Flath, and her husband Bill; and by an infant brother and an infant sister. A Memorial Service will be held at the Balmoral Bible Chapel, 2700 – 55 St., Red Deer AB on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 – Arnot Ave, Red Deer AB T4R 3S6.
