Nancy Georgia Alexander
06 July 1960 – 07 September 2023
On the afternoon of September 7th, 2023 Nancy Georgina Alexander passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital in Red Deer Alberta. She was joined in her final moments by her surviving children, Anthony Alexander Charles Cheverie (Guenette) and Sarah Cecile Nancy Guenette. Nancy has an extensive family, both biological and chosen, her passing is deeply mourned by all of them. Nancy was one in a million. She had the biggest heart, anyone who knew her can confirm this. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for another person. Nancy had a passion for giving to others, as well as crafting, music, shopping, and above all spending time with family and friends. As a young adult Nancy was an athlete at the provincial level, competing in multiple events including wheelchair races. Soon she would become mother to three children and that kept her on her wheels for the next little while. Later in life Nancy had the opportunity to reinvent herself. A happily divorced woman with adult children she started out on her journey as an independent woman for the first time in her life. She was nervous at first, but before long she was thriving. Nancy had her first job and an active social life. Nancy loved life in Red Deer greeting customers at the South Wal-Mart was her calling. Browsing during breaks was an added perk. Nancy was always excited to get something new for the grandkids. Watching them open things was so satisfying for her. Nancy’s disabilities were always a challenge. They never stopped her from showing love. Nancy loved fast and hard. She never let her wheelchair stop her. On the contrary she made it fun whenever possible. She would customize her ride with all the bells and whistles. She taught her children to ride the back of her chair and well needless to say the grandchildren have enjoyed such perks. Watching her thrive through our adult life was such a great joy. Nancy touched many more lives than we even know. Bethany Collegeside hosted an intimate gathering for family, co-residents and staff on Sept. 13, 2023. Attendees gathered to share their favourite memories of Nancy, a prayer or solemn thought, and enjoy some of her favourite music. We would like to thank everyone involved with making that happen as well as all who attended or sent their condolences. To leave a sympathy message, please visit reddeerfuneralhome.com
