Our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Myrtle (Myrtz) Winnifred Gales (nee Marsh) peacefully passed away on March 23, 2022 at the age of 90 years.
She was born January 30, 1932 to Albert and Agnes Marsh in Foisy AB. She grew up on a farm, part of a large and loving family with the “best parents”, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
At the age of 17 years, Myrtle left home to attend Nursing School in Calgary AB. Following graduation in 1952 she and 2 good friends and fellow graduates, Dixie and Carrie Reimer moved to Cardston AB to begin their nursing careers. It was there she met and married the love of her life, Laurence (Larry) Gales. Myrtle and Larry went on to have 4 children, Doug, Pam, Donnie and Joyce.
In June of 1991, Myrtle and Larry retired and moved from the St. Paul area to Red Deer AB where she was busy with volunteer work, her numerous charities, gardening, baking, reading and many good times with family and friends.
Myrtle was predeceased by her husband Laurence, her parents Albert and Agnes, her sisters, June (Pete) and Marjorie (Paul), her brothers, Billy (Stella), Cliff (Ruth) and Kenny (Gladys). And her beloved family “from the south” mother and father in-law, Albert and Ethel Gales, brothers in-law, Alfred (Lola), Harry (Kitty) and Weldon (Dixie), sister in-laws Elva (Glen), and Elinor (Jesse).
She is survived by her children, Doug (Linda), Pam, Donnie and Joyce. As well as her brother in-law Al Dodge (June) and her much loved 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Myrtle’s life will be held on April 6, 2022 at 1 p.m. in the Eventide Funeral Home in Red Deer AB.
