Mrs. Stella Valentine (nee Sprenkle)

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mrs. Stella Valentine (nee Sprenkle), at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the age of 86 years. Stella was born on November 5, 1932 in Radway, Alberta. She was the youngest daughter of Lloyd and Annie Sprenkle. Stella’s childhood was spent in Thorhild, Alberta, where she was raised on the family farm. As a teenager, she moved to Edmonton, Alberta to further her education and attended the University of Alberta taking Education. While in University, she met a Pharmacy student, Mr. Martin Valentine, whom she married in 1952. Along with Martin, she helped manage four different Pharmacies they owned, as well as raising their family. After retiring from their Pharmacy in 1993, they started a new business, Valentine Wine and Beer, a home brew store. Stella worked tirelessly, seven days a week in her retirement, even while battling cancer. Stella will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cheryl of Red Deer, Alberta; her sons, John (Laurie) of Red Deer, Alberta, Robert (Lorna) of Camrose, Alberta and David (Evelynn) of Lousana, Alberta; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Grace Shean of Vancouver, British Columbia; and her niece, Dale (Bruce) Cowie of Vancouver, British Columbia. Stella was predeceased by her loving husband, Martin in 2014.
