Mrs. Myrtle Vera Repas

Mrs. Myrtle Vera Repas, beloved wife of Mr. Ernie Repas of Poplar Ridge, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the age of 82 years. Myrtle was born April 22, 1935 in Willesden Green, Alberta. She attended the Meadowvale School until grade nine. She had a great passion for sports specifically high jump and baseball. Her competitive spirit was witnessed and admired at many ball tournaments, this is where she met the love of her life, Ernie. Ernie was a spectator and lured her from the ball diamond to be his “Partner in Marriage”. In 1953, Myrtle quit her job at the Rimbey Hospital to become a Domestic Engineer and a great mom to five children. Myrtle loved gatherings and it was her pleasure to bake and prepare for her family and friends. She filled her summer days with gardening and she arose every morning to her favorite country radio station and played the station all day until she retired for the evening. Myrtle will be lovingly remembered by her husband of sixty-four years, Ernie Repas; sons, Ken (Sherry) Repas and Earl (Francine) Repas; daughters, Reita (Lester) Stewart and Sheila (Robert) Thomson; twelve grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. She will also be sadly missed by her brother, Lyle; and sisters, Ava Raadik and Nora Lawson. She was predeceased by a son, Alan (2008), parents, Max and Vera Lawson; brothers, Mervyn, Jim, Arthur and John; sisters, Mary May Bauer and Velma Farnham. A Celebration of Myrtle’s Life will be held at the Rimbey Drop Inn Centre, 5110 – 53 Avenue, Rimbey, Alberta on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
