Mrs. Johanna Christina Looyenga (Woerdenbach)

Mrs. Johanna Christina Looyenga of Lacombe, Alberta, passed away peacefully into God’s loving embrace on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the age of 90 years. Johanna was born on August 13, 2927 in the Netherlands. After the Second World War, she met and married the love of her life, Roy Looyenga. During their sixty years together, they shared countless adventures and memories. In 1954, they immigrated with their first two young chidren to Canada, where their third was born. Johanna had a big heart that was always willing to help those in need, and she was a dedicated member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She had a passion for singing and music, was a prolific painter and seamstress, loved social occasions and will be remembered for her beautiful smile. Johanna will be lovingly remembered by her sons; Roy (Donna) Looyenga and Cliff (Bethany) Looyenga, daughter; Johnanna (Don) Nischuk, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Johanna will also be sadly missed by her sister; Ann (Roy) Andersen, as well as countless special friends and family. Johanna was predeceased by her husband, Roy in 2007. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Bethany CollegeSide, Red Deer for their compassion during her residence there.
