Mrs. Avril Rangen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Avril Rangen at the Red Deer Hospice, after a long battle with cancer, on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the age of 78 years. Avril was born in Eckville, Alberta on April 30, 1940. She grew up in the Diamond Valley District, and lived most of her life in the Eckville Area. First Avril attended school at the Blueberry School for eight years, then went to the Eckville School. She attended Red Deer College while working at the Michener Center for three years, before marrying Glenn Rangen and becoming a working farm wife. Growing up, Avril enjoyed playing baseball, curling, and later in life, she enjoyed bowling and playing a good hand of cards. Avril loved watching her grandchildren in their various sporting activities including hockey, rodeo, and school sports. Avril will lovingly be remembered by her husband of fifty-six years, Glenn Rangen; sons, Randy (Lori), and Eldon (Debbie); grandchildren, Jesse (Teala), Joel, Charissa (Nick), Katrina, Curtis and Dylan; as well as two great grandchildren, Aleah and Aubrey. Avril was predeceased by her parents, Wesley and Helen McNeil; a brother, Jim McNeil, and a sister, Isabel Martin. A Memorial Tea will be held at the Eckville Friendship Centre, Eckville, Alberta on August 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. A Private Interment will be held at the Kalmu Cemetery, Gilby, Alberta.
