It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Robert ‘Bob’ Harry Leeland Wombold in Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Bob grew up with his only brother, Roy in Olds, Alberta and he lived in other Central Alberta Communities before he moved to Vancouver Island, British Columbia. While in Vancouver, Bob met and married Ann. Together they spent time travelling and enjoying the beauty of Qualicum Beach, where they resided until Ann’s death, only a few years after they were married. Following retirement from MacMillan Bloedel in 1989, Bob began to travel to Alberta visiting friends. He loved to spend his winters in Apache Junction, Arizona, until health issues prevented him from going South in recent years. He loved the area and the comradery of the trailer park he lived in, and more so, the low cost of living, compared to living in Canada. Anyone who knew Bob, knew that he loved to save a dollar wherever possible! From the Island, Bob moved to Fort Macleod, Alberta, and then to Sylvan Lake Lodge, where he resided for several years. As health challenges continued to increase, shorter term stays were provided at Sunset Manor in Innisfail, and most recently Villa Marie in Red Deer. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his niece, Gloria (David) Woodland of Surrey, British Columbia and his nephew, Morley (Jannette) Wombold of Edmonton, Alberta. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Ann; his parents, George and Lily Wombold and a brother, Roy Wombold. A Private Family Interment will will be held at a later date. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040 or 1.800.481.7421.
