Mr. Howard ‘Lee’ Smith

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Howard ‘Lee’ Smith in Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the age of 82 years. Lee was born in Drumheller, Alberta. He stayed in Drumheller until he ventured to Jasper, Alberta where he was a surveyor. While in Jasper he met and married Mary Seward and raised his family. He then went on to work for CN Railway for twenty two years until retirement. After Mary passed away in 1992, Lee then met Bernice Dazé and they spent twenty seven years happily travelling, golfing and enjoying retirement in Lacombe, Alberta. Lee will lovingly be remembered by his partner, Bernice Dazé; his sons, Donald (Terri) Smith and Randy (Janice) Carlson; his step-children, Michael (Rebecca) Slute, Lorri (James) McColgan and Susan (Ron) Fisher as well as fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, Oscar Smith, Leonard Smith and Dennis Smith; his sisters, Lona Grose, Lorretta Kuklison and Bonita Pederson. Lee was predeceased by his wife, Mary; his parents, Bertha and Oscar Smith; his siblings, Marion, Lester and Orval. A Drop-In Celebration of Lee’s Life will be held at Royal Canadian Legion Lacombe Branch #79, 5138 – 49 Street, Lacombe, Alberta on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Lee’s honour my be made directly to Charity of Donor’s Choice.
