It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Gerald ‘Gerry’ ‘Jay’ Wayne Brattston of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, on Friday, August 21, 2020 at the age of 74 years. Gerry was born on September 12, 1945 at St. Boniface, Manitoba and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He had a passion for drag racing in his younger years and water sports along the Red River, Lake Winnipeg and Grand Beach. The family continued enjoying boating and sports at lakes around Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Most of his working life was spent in the Construction Industry – from equipment sales to project management to steel building sales. He moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1972, then to Red Deer, Alberta in 1995 and then to Sylvan lake, Alberta in 2004. He retired from HCI Steel Buildings in 2012. Gerry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his loving family: his wife, Beverley; his son, Ryan (Bekki) and his grandchildren, Brielle, Joshua and Casey Jay. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Ted (Millie) and his nephews, Bob and Darren of Vancouver, BC; as well as numerous family members and dear friends. The family is very grateful for the care given to Gerry by Dr. S. Fugler and Staff, and by the doctors and nurses at SLAACC, and by Dr. Heathcote and the caring nurses at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Gerry’s honor may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada at www.heartandstroke.ca.
