Miss Norma ‘Norm’ Fern Goettsch of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the age of 54 years. Norma was born on September 15, 1962 at Edmonton, Alberta. She moved to Red Deer at a young age, and lived at Michener Centre. In 1996, she moved into the community with Living Independently For Equality for the remaining twenty-one years of her life. Her caregivers and roommates will remember her mischievous smile and the happiness she brought to the house. Norma was fun loving and very expressive; and she loved going for walks, sight-seeing and going for car rides. Some of her favorite trips were to Camp L.G. Barnes, the Calgary Zoo, and Discovery Wildlife Park, as well as having picnics with roommates and support staff. People watching was her favorite thing to do, whether it was at home or in the community. Norma will be fondly remembered by her brothers, Randy and Larry Goettsch of Edmonton and dearly missed by her friends and caregivers. A Celebration of Norma’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
