It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Michael Stringer on July 24, 2022 with his loving wife, Nicole at his side.

In Michael’s short 38 years he made an unforgettable impression on those who had the honor of meeting him. He was born November 24, 1983 in Welland, Ontario and moved to Central Alberta shortly after graduating. Michael and Nicole worked together at East Side Mario’s in Red Deer, where Michael charmed Nicole’s heart and they were later married on September 25, 2010. Soon afterward they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Sophie & Emily. Michael was diagnosed with Melanoma in 2009 and his courageous superhero-like response to this horrible disease inspired many.

Michael loved his family. His favourite days were spent boating and fishing, leading long bike rides through the city or slow relaxing days spent at home playing games, cuddling and cooking.

He had a smart, witty sense of humour and a charismatic charm that filled every room he entered with a feeling of genuine love.

Michael will be sadly missed by his Wife, Nicole ~ his two young Daughters, Sophie & Emily ~ Mother, Wendy (Mike) ~ Sister, Stephanie (Garrett) ~ In-laws, Brad, Charlene (Rob), Amanda & Colton ~ Nieces and Nephews, Jack, Aria, Abigail & Benjamin as well as countless extended family & friends. Michael was pre-deceased by his Father, Bob.

A sincere thank you to the Red Deer Hospice for their role in caring for Michael and ‘his girls’ in his final days. The relationships built with his oncologists and medical teams became more than just professional. We truly felt cared for and want to extend a special acknowledgement to them. The outpouring of love, support and prayers received by our family, friends and community will be treasured in our hearts always.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at Crossroads Church, SW Corner of 32 Street and Highway 2. A celebration of life gathering will also be held in Ontario within the coming weeks.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Save Your Skin Foundation or the Red Deer Hospice in Michael’s honor.
