Mary M. Ranger

August 31, 1929 – July 9, 2023

It is with deep sorrow that the Ranger family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Mary Magdelina Ranger (Hauck) on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the age of 93 years. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Janice (Jim) of Fox Creek, Karen (Dave) of Red Deer and Kathy (Doug) of Cremona; and her son: Ron (Karen) of Drumheller; as well as 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren;  nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Ray, son Stephen, infant daughter Janet as well as her five siblings.

Mom was born on August 31, 1929, in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan.   She married Ray Ranger on November 9, 1949, and started their life together in Calgary, then eventually moved to the Red Deer area where they raised their children with love and pride.

Mom liked entertaining and was a gracious hostess.  Her home was often referred to as the gathering place for family and friends.  She was a fabulous cook and always had delicious baking for all to enjoy.  She and Dad spent many winters in Mesa and Las Vegas. Summertime offered memorable camping and fishing trips with family and friends.   She was an avid curling fan and also never turned down a challenging game of Scrabble or Wizard.

Mom moved to Villa Marie in 2020 and made many friends there.  She always looked forward to the recreational activities they offered, especially Bingo. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Villa Marie staff and to Dr. Rautenbach for the exceptional care and compassion our mom received during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.

A Prayer Service will be held at the Red Deer Funeral Home (6150 – 67 Street) on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.    Family and friends are invited for light refreshments at the Red Deer Funeral Home following interment.
