Mary Jean Budd went to be with her precious Lord and Saviour on July 11, 2023 at the age of 94. Mary was a woman of faith and prayer. She lived her life well, serving the Lord and loving and caring for her family and many friends.
Mary was born in Erskine, Alberta on March 7,1929. She was raised on a farm in the Castor area. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Dell Budd. The couple farmed in the Bluffton area until 1953 when they moved to Red Deer. She felt blessed to love and raise a family of four girls, Mardel (Steeves), Edith (Lamb), Evelyn (Evans) and Denene (Schawalder). Throughout the years Mary attended the Oriole Park Missionary and Crossroads churches where she made friends and faithfully prayed for her church family. She worked at the Red Deer Hospital, Hillcrest Lucky Dollar and McLeods stores. Mary spent her later years in her own home in the Parkvale area of Red Deer. She enjoyed working in her garden, biking and walking in the park and visiting with family and neighbours. Mary loved to sing! She sang many duets with Dell (especially at family reunions) and later joined the Golden Circle Choir. She freely gave a “God bless you!” to family members, friends and caregivers, and those were more precious than gold! Her final days were spent at Points West Living where she was well cared for by staff.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Mary Edith White (1973), David Alexander White (1948); siblings Marie, George, Charlie, Ruth and Ralph; a stillborn daughter, Faith (1961); her loving husband, Dell (2001); daughter Edith Lamb (1994); sons- in-law John Evans (1990), Delbert Steeves (2022).
Mary will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Mardel Steeves, Evelyn Evans, Denene Schawalder; sons-in-law, Keith Lamb, Bryon Jeffers and Wes Schawalder; grandchildren, Brent (Andrea), Michael, Brad ( Julie) (Steeves); Nolan (Laureen), Adam (Tina) (Lamb); Alissa (Devin), John (Kathryn) (Evans); Trenton, Tara, Hailey (Schawalder); great grandchildren, Cale, Ethan, Alexis, Aneya, Jack, Josiah, Jesse, Jayden ( Steeves); Bethany, Clark, Ava (Lamb); Briggs, Capri (Wegner).
God knows her heart and has welcomed his faithful servant home.
