Marlene Robertson, beloved wife, sister, mother, foster mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and much more, passed away on May 11, 2026.
Marlene of Red Deer, Alberta is survived by her loving husband, Michael Robertson; her children, Trevor (Jessica) Robertson and Amy (Dustin) Gardner; her grandchildren, Rylee and Tanner Robertson, and Rebecca and Brody Gardner; her great-grandson, Ryder Robertson; and her sisters, Sharon (Peter) Bouchard, Barbara (Don) Evoy, Sandi (Ross) Jackson, and Judy (Pete) Paulauskas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family by blood or by choice.
Marlene was predeceased by her mother, Rhoda “Bunny” Wiggins; her father, Lionel Lustgarten; her grandparents, Max and Anita Wexler; her brother, David Lustgarten; her niece, Terri Bouchard; her nephew, Brandon Paulauskas; and many loving family pets. Marlene had just turned 70 on May 8. She and her loving husband, Mike, were also preparing to celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary together on May 28.
Marlene, or “Mar” as she was lovingly known, dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked as an ER nurse in both Montreal and Red Deer for a total of 20 years. Marlene and Mike also cared for more than 125 foster children over 29 years, as well as dozens of foster dogs over the last five years. Mar had a gift for bringing out the best in people and calming even the most difficult situations. She will be deeply loved and greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life for Marlene will be held on May 28, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Red Deer Funeral Home and Celebration Centre.
Marlene will live forever in our hearts and through the stories we share. We will love you forever and carry you with us always.
