We are very sad to announce that Marlene Frances Belich, our dear Mother, Grandmother (to be), Sister, Niece, Cousin & friend passed away in Red Deer on May 8, 2020 after a challenging time from the results of a stroke & cancer.
A wonderful & heartwarming lady, Marlene loved a good laugh and had enough of the feisty Scottish heritage in her to have a hearty argument, along with the attendant chuckle. She continued to be a fighter until her passing.
Marlene loved all of her near and extended family members and always greatly appreciated time with them, as well as with her good friends, Carol & Bill Moore. Born & raised in Red Deer, Marlene lived, worked & cared deeply for the community all her life. Having completed her Social Work degree in Calgary, she returned to Red Deer and was a very proud and dedicated Social Worker. She was also a volunteer for the Kerry Wood Nature Centre & Ducks Unlimited Canada. Marlene’s greatest joy was being with family, friends and fellow volunteers.
Marlene will be deeply missed by her Son, Adam Fournier (Miranda); Step Daughter, Julia; Brother, Mel (Meryl); Aunt Pat; and many caring Nephews & Nieces, Cousins & their families. Marlene was predeceased by her loving Husband, Wayne Fournier, and by her Parents, Michael & Frances.
Our family regrets that because of the covid-virus, a private family cremation & internment will occur & a celebration of Marlene’s life will be announced at a later date. We will all miss Marlene’s sense of humour, caring & ready smile. In the meantime, Marlene would surely want you to have a wide grin & a chuckle while remembering fun times amongst family & friends.
We deeply appreciate the services given to Marlene by the caregivers of unit 32 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, as well by the caregivers at the Red Deer Hospice. In loving memory of Marlene, a family donation will be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society. In lieu of flowers, Marlene requested that, if you wish, you make a donation to a Charity of your choice.
Memories, pictures & stories that Marlene & the family would cherish may be sent to www.eventidefuneralchapels.com.
Rest Well, Marlene. We love you & will remember you with fondness.
