It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son Luke Otteson on October 14, 2020 at the young age of 20 years.
Luke was born in 1999 in Red Deer, AB. He was in a rush to get into this world and right away we knew that he would live life to the fullest and keep us hopping!! Luke was full of light and love; he had the biggest personality and would walk right up to strangers, hold out his hand and introduce himself with a big grin on his face. Luke made friends easily everywhere he went and was always there with a helping hand, an ear to listen and a hand to hold. In high school he joined the Fire Cadets and was so happy and excited with this new adventure and the possibilities it could hold for him. Once Luke started driving, his passion for older cars, especially older ones that seemed to need a lot of work done to them were often at our home. It became a running joke between family and friends, wondering what car Luke was driving currently.
Luke was always so thoughtful and cared about his family and friends’ safety. He would always offer to be the DD to get them home safely from a night of partying, he would always volunteer to be “on call” all hours of the night. In the summer he would spend days fishing with his friends, joking and laughing and having a great time. He also joined the paintballing group “Cryptum” with his best friend that he considered a “bonus” brother and would spend many weekends paintballing with the group. To our “Lukester”; we love you to the moon, all the way around and back again; you will be forever missed and hold a special place in everyone’s life you touched.
Luke is lovingly remembered by his parents Phil and Inga of Red Deer, his brother Sveinn and sister Destiny; his Amma Ellen; his grandparents Alden (Belle); Grandma and Grandpa Brown (Brenda and Ed); his aunt Joanne (Tom) of Red Deer, Kathy (Grimur) of Iceland, Elin (Jeff) of Calgary; His uncle Ben (Ashley) of Devon, Logan, Ryan and Quinton of Red Deer. His great uncle and Godfather Thor Thordarson; His great aunt Edie (Steve), great uncle Frank. Along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends in Alberta and Iceland.
In heaven Luke joins his great grandpa Sveinn (Afi) his great grandma Tota (Amma) grandma Dianne, lovingly remembered as Granny, his great aunt Mona Billey Thordarson, his great aunt Margaret.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held in the new year once the social gatherings due to Covid-19 permit.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Central Alberta Cancer Centre, PO Bag 5030, Red Deer AB T4N 4E7.
Condolences to Luke’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
