Lucille Mary Richard

Lucille Mary Richard passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 30th, 2022 at Red Deer Regional Hospital, at the age of 84 years, surrounded by her family.
Lucille was born on March 14th, 1938 to Clarence and Hilda Gauthier in Caslan, Alberta. She grew up in Plamondon, Alberta and married her hometown “Sweetheart”, Philip Richard, on September 30th, 1957. Together, they made their home and raised their four children in the Northwest Territories, Fort McMurray, Innisfail and finally settled in Red Deer where they lived for the past 22 years. Lucille loved to cook and especially loved her sweets. She always had beautiful flower gardens and abundant vegetable gardens. She loved music, dancing and watching the Toronto Blue Jays. She had a great sense of humour, loved to laugh and had a tremendous faith and dedication to God.
Lucille will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Philip Richard; children Brian Richard, Janice (John) Reimert, Joanne Richard (Norm Weir) and Larry Richard (Patricia Grell).
She was so proud of her twelve grandchildren; Jenny (Jeff) Arvidson, Andrea (Dion) Riddoch, Julie (Tristan) Taylor, Stephanie Richard, Eric (Cecilia) Welwood, Trevor Welwood, Jason (Fatima) Welwood, Katharine (Chris) Bartsch, Sebastian Greaves, Thomas, William and Vincent Richard.
She spoke of her fifteen great-grandchildren with such love and joy: Cole, Luke and Josie Arvidson; Pacee, Benson and Beau Riddoch; Coco, Luna and Navy Taylor; Bernadette, Mireille and Guillaume Welwood; Dominic Welwood; Oliver and Charlie Bartsch.
Lucille is also survived by her sisters Rita (Charles) Gaudet and Donalie (Dave) Bears; brothers Joe (Pauline) Gauthier, Raymond Bossé and Philip Bossé; sister-in-law Karen Gauthier; brother-in-law Dale Spink and extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Clarence Gauthier and Hilda Bossé; step-father Daniel Bossé; sisters Therese Gauthier and Louise Spink; and brother Jeremie Gauthier.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 22nd, 2022 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 4816 – 55 Street Red Deer, Alberta. A private family graveside inurnment will be held July 23rd, 2022 at 1:30 pm in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery 5450-67th Street.
The family is sincerely grateful to the staff of the Central Alberta Cancer Centre and Unit 32 Red Deer Regional Hospital for their care.
