Loretta Marion Salter
July 27, 1924 – October 18, 2018
On October 18, 2018 Loretta passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Terrence and Lily McManus; sister Edna, son Thomas, and daughters Edna and Loretta Mae.
Loretta will be lovingly remembered by her sons-in-laws, Ronald Whittemore and David Chaplin, grandchildren, Sean (Lorelei), Ian (Gina), Matt (Vanessa) and Michelle (Neil) and six great-grandchildren.
A master teacher, Loretta’s career spanned 42 years with the majority serving the Red Deer Public School District at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School. After her retirement, she continued to volunteer her time in both the Red Deer Public and Catholic school divisions. During her free time, she enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, discussing politics and current events at daily coffee with friends.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday October 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 48A Ave in Red Deer. Internment to follow at the Red Deer Cemetery.
The family is sincerely grateful to the staff of the Red Deer Regional Hospital and Timberstone Mews for their care during Loretta’s final years.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Loretta M. Chaplin Memorial Fund at the Banff Canmore Community Foundation.
