Linda, firstborn to Clint and Loretta Stone in Berwyn, Alberta, in 1953, was raised mostly in Lesser Slave Lake and Sundre. She was married in Calgary on April 21, 1973 to Dan Rees. Sundre became their home for 38 years. Of their three children, the oldest, Emmerick, still lives in the Sundre area while Sam lives in Clive and their daughter Lisa in Red Deer. All were born in Slave Lake.
While in Calgary, Linda worked as a desk clerk and switchboard operator at Bowridge motel before moving to Lesser Slave Lake, where they started raising a family. She always had a large garden and liked camping, horseback riding, holidays and travelling. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 1, 1989, and helped with construction of Kingdom Halls. She was a meek and gentle soul who never said anything bad of anyone and was much loved by all who knew her.
Linda will be lovingly remembered by her husband Dan Rees; sons Emmerick Colin Rees (born in 1978) and Samuel John Paul Rees (1979); her daughter Lisa Jane Michell Rees (1981); her five grandchildren; as well as her brother Ivan Stone of Olds, Alberta; and her sister Doris Lyons of High River, Alberta. Linda was predeceased by both of her parents and her aunts and uncle.
A memorial service will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (505 – 7 St SW, Sundre, Alberta) on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 3:00 pm. Lunch will be held after the service at the West Country Seniors Centre, located at 101 – 2nd Avenue NW #4 in Sundre.
