Lillian Ruth Wakey (nee Reeves) of Red Deer passed away at Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the age of 92 years. Born December 1931, in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan, Lillian moved to Red Deer early in her life. After marrying Don in 1952, she raised her family in their Grandview home where she resided until moving to Piper Creek Lodge in 2020 and then to Crimson Villas shortly after.
The joy in Lil’s life was held in her personal connections. She surrounded herself with a bouquet of friends, spanning from those she collected in her youth, through her professional career at Parson’s Clinic, and on to those she found in her golden years at Crimson Villas and everywhere in between. A treasured wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, her family will miss her warm and loving heart, her loyal and supportive spirit, her daily phone calls and her calm presence.
Lillian is survived by sons Dean and Mark (Lisa); grandchildren Michael Wakey (Crystal), Carmen MacDonald (Randy), Conner Wakey (Shillelagh), and Layne Wakey; great-granddaughters Maiya Wakey and Marlowe MacDonald; sister Sheila Maday (Hank); and extended family Bob Wakey and Evelyn Reeves. She was pre-deceased by her husband Don; daughter-in-law Katherine Wakey; brother Allan; sister and brother-in- law Lois and Jack Britton; niece Cary and nephews Terry and Dwayne.
A celebration of Lil’s life will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pioneer Lodge, 4324 – 46 A Ave., Red Deer AB.
