Leona Gertrude Teed
November 23, 1931 – November 23, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Leona Gertrude (Weber) Teed on November 23, 2025, her 94th birthday, at Stettler, Alberta.
Leona was born November 23, 1931 in Delisle, Saskatchewan and was the 4th child of 8 for John and Teresa (Wilma) Weber.
Leona graduated from Normal School (Teacher’s College) in Saskatoon in 1951, where she met her future husband, dashing valedictorian George Teed. She and George were married August 19, 1955 and raised 4 sons and 1 daughter. Their early years with the family were spent in Harris and Rosetown, Saskatchewan with George’s teaching career and then the next 22 years found them in Peace River, Alberta. Their final move to Red Deer was in 1992 to be closer to family.
Her passion for curling was visible with the many trophies she won but her most memorable moments came when she was an Alberta delegate for Curl Canada and attended many Women’s National Curling Championships. Football was Leona’s other cherished sport where her home was adorned with various Saskatchewan Roughrider memorabilia.
Volunteering was important to Leona which saw her busy as a returning officer for Elections Canada, selling programs with George at the Red Deer Rebels games, delivering Meals on Wheels, and helping out with social events, Bridge, Whist and Bocce Ball for over 30 years with the Golden Circle in Red Deer. She was a talented card player but always took the time to assist others to play.
Leona’s love of gardening was evident in the ribbons won at flower shows and the beautiful yards she and George created in Peace River and Red Deer. Leona’s greatest love of all was spending time with her grandchildren and celebrating their achievements.
Leona was predeceased by husband George (2023), sons Tom (1974) and Gordon (2025), parents John and Wilma Weber as well as sisters Ruby, Dorothy, Verna and Pearl and brothers Ted and Louie.
She is survived by her daughter Vikki (Brian) Tease, daughter-in-law Kim Pickett, sons Dan (Sandra) and John (Bonnie), brother Gordon (Vi) Weber, grandchildren Katherine, Andrew, Kimberley, Jaz, Ashton, Whitney, Chad, Cole, Toni and 11 great-grandchildren..
There will not be a funeral at Leona’s request but a gathering of the immediate family will occur in the spring as hers and George’s ashes are laid to rest in Saskatoon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Leona’s memory be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society.
