Leon Eric Quartly of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on May 3, 2024, at the age of 56.
Leon was born in Innisfail and raised on the family farm near Penhold. He got his journeyman plumbing and pipe fitting tickets and worked out of town for the first several years of his career before securing a position at Dow Chemical, working first for Quinn Contracting and then for Kelly Services.
He was an industrious man who took pride in a job well done. After his father’s passing, he would work all week at his full-time job, and then would help his mother with farmwork almost every weekend. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes and quads in the west country, trips on his street bike, and a good laugh with friends and family.
Leon was an outstanding son, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend. He will be missed by every person that had the privilege of getting to know him. Gone way too soon.
Leon will be lovingly remembered by his sister Nola Quartly; nephew Evan (Caylee) Brewster and their children Evalee and Gavin; niece Nadine (Tim) Dumont and their children Ava and Audrey; as well as by numerous friends and extended family members. Leon was predeceased by his parents Ronald and Evelyn Quartly.
A private family service for Leon will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, through their website crohnsandcolitis.ca. Condolences to Leon’s family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net. Please indicate “Quartly” in the subject line.
