Lawrence Dean Myer
Peacefully on April 20, 2023, Dean passed away surrounded by his family at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
Dean was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence (Larry) and Carol Myer. Dean will be lovingly remembered by his sister Coreena; nephews Anthony and Cody; and numerous extended family.
Dean was born in Edmonton, AB. He grew up and did most of his schooling in Red Deer, but spent a few years of Junior High in Blackfalds and Lacombe. Dean went to College in Red Deer, and enrolled in the 4 year Fine Arts program. After completing the Arts program, he moved to Kelowna where he spent a few yrs as a ceramic tech and setting up different art shows. Later he moved to Victoria, BC where he was a courier for Purolator. Dean loved living on the island and was fond of his early morning beachcombing. Following some complications with his health, Dean returned to AB. In his later yrs Dean was one of the first residents at Bethany Collegeside on the young adult’s unit. He made many friends there and stayed involved in activities such as charity events, teaching an art class, participating in the Art Expression program at Red Deer College. He loved the long weekends where he would participate in having BBQ’s for all the residents on A1. Dean had a great love for animals and over the yrs he had many. He always had a collection of music which was always a big part of his day. Dean had a big heart and a sense of humour, both of which he shared with everyone.
There is a private memorial at Bethany for staff, residents and a small number of family members, and a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff and residents at Bethany, and his cousin Sherri Martin, for all the love, support and friendship that was provided to Dean over the years.
Go rest high on the mountain Dean, your work here is done!
