Laurie Kim Soderberg, of Rimbey, AB passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025 in Rimbey Hospital at the age of 66 years with her family by her side after a short but hard-fought battle with a rare cancer due to the BRCA1 gene.
Laurie was born in Vernon, BC to Fred and Joy on November 27th, 1958. She and her family moved to Whitehorse, Yukon in 1970. She stayed with her family until she moved back to BC to attend Trinity western University in 1977. At this time her family moved to Rimbey, AB where she met & later married Ron Soderberg.
During her early years in Rimbey she worked as head cashier at the Coop, as well as the Credit Union Bank. Their boys were born Nathan in 1987 & Jeremy in 1990. Laurie went on to be a successful financial advisor, winning multiple awards and trips to the U.S through her company. She eventually went on to start her own business as a financial advisor. She eventually sold this business to spend more time with her family & looking after her ailing mother.
Laurie enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow up and loved recording and taking as many pictures as she could. She always seemed to be behind a camera of some sort recording every hockey and soccer game, and every family event. She also loved baking, especially before Christmas time when all the nieces and nephews would come over to prepare for the holiday season. Later in life Laurie went back to work for Kansas Ridge Mechanical in Rimbey. She adored her job there. And made many lasting memories as well as great friends.
Her grandkids were the light of her life spending many weekends with Hayden, and eventually Sophie when she came along. She only got to meet her newest granddaughter, Isabel, for a short time before her passing but she showed a lifetime of love in the short time she was able to be with her. She will be remembered & cherished always.
Laurie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ron; sons Nathan (Lindsay) Soderberg, their son Hayden and Jeremy (Jessica) Soderberg, their girls Sophie & Isabel; siblings Roger (Verlynn) Woolf, son Cody, Danny (Krista) Woolf, their girls Amy (Sam) Baker, Rebecca (Chad) Chambers and Jodie (Dave) Dueck their kids Victoria & Scott as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Laurie was predeceased by her parents Fred and Joy Woolf and in-laws Lloyd and Esther Soderberg all of Rimbey. She also lost a precious nephew Zachary Woolf in 2005.
