Kenneth Paul was born in 1964 in Lacombe, Alberta, the youngest son of Bert and Wava Hoeve, and the baby brother to Brenda and Allan. His childhood was spent in Lacombe, riding bikes and playing sports. Ken often went to Michener Park to build forts with his friends, which sometimes lead to the firetrucks being called.

Ken, Allan, and brother-in-law John helped with the family beekeeping business. Ken began his sales career selling the honey at the local farmers market. Ken graduated from Lacombe High School in 1982. He became a Journeyman Welder and completed a Commerce Degree. He loved to learn, taking numerous cooking classes in Red Deer and even learning to cook Italian food in Italy. He loved to try new wines and pair them with the perfect food.

Ken met the love of his life while attending Red Deer College and married Diane in 1992. They initially lived in Edmonton, where their daughter Jennifer was born in 1996. They spent three years in Lloydminster before settling in Red Deer in 2000.

Ken had a rewarding 25-year career with Praxair beginning in ‘Inside Sales and Service’ and working hard to become a valued Territorial Manager. He passed up many promotional opportunities to ensure he could spend more time with his family. Wherever Ken went, he made friends. In his later years he still biked with his buddies, golfed with his high school friends, skied with his nephews, laughed with his nieces, travelled the world with his family, studied the bible with his care groups and played cards with the many people who touched his life.

Ken passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the age of 54, while recovering from heart surgery at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute in Edmonton. He is now with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Ken was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his loving wife Diane, daughter Jennifer (fiancé Dylan), sister Brenda (John Hand), brother Allan (Rowena) and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be loved and remembered forever.

A memorial service for Ken will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 at CrossRoads Church, 38105 Range Road 275, Red Deer, at 1:30 pm with Pastor Ken Lehman presiding.
