Keith Michael Kelly
1961 – 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Michael Kelly at his Group Home in Red Deer on Monday, September 16,2024 at the age of 63 years. Keith was born in Edmonton on January 26,1961 to Ken and Gardis Kelly. Up until the age of 5, Keith lived in Edmonton. After that he moved to the Michener Centre in Red Deer. He resided there for many years until he moved into a Michener group home. He loved his group home, and his speech improved in this smaller setting with his kind caregivers. Keith always had a happy, smiling face to share with everyone he met. He had a great sense of humor and loved to say funny things to get a laugh. He enjoyed socializing with people, watching television and movies, seeing firetrucks and animals (especially dogs), looking at pictures in magazines, and going to camps close to the mountains. He loved his collection of hats, and always looked forward to shopping for a new hat. He gave everyone a “thumbs up” as he was a big fan of “popeye the sailor man”. His trips in the van to Edmonton to visit family were highlights for Keith. He touched the lives of everyone he met, including Caregiver friends, hospital staff, and all who knew him. Keith will be lovingly missed and remembered by his sisters Lenore (Dale) Kelly-Smith, Elaine (Harold) Friedrich, brothers Russ (Loraine) Kelly and Dave (Shirley) Kelly, and his nieces and nephews. Keith will also be sadly missed by his loving and caring extended family at his Michener group home. Keith was predeceased by his father, Ken Kelly (2000), mother, Gardis Kelly (2017) and sister Annette Kelly (1964). Keith will be cremated at Eventide Funeral Home in Red Deer, Alberta with an interment at the Westlawn Cemetery in Edmonton, Alberta. The family wishes to thank the Caregivers at the Michener Group Home for the compassionate care provided to Keith over the years, and the staff at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
