Keith Janz

Keith Janz, or for those who knew him as Cookie, was born February 17th, 1965 and passed away October 14th, 2025; leaving the world quickly while drinking coffee and chatting with friends. Keith survived by his two children.
He will be sorely missed, as he was truly a well-loved, respected man who was renowned for his hard-working nature and hilarious (albeit at times crass) sense of humour. Those who enjoyed his company knew they had a dedicated friend who cared about them, despite his more reclusive nature (at times). He was always willing to provide help and support to those who needed it most including family, friends and pets. He loved many things, like Hawkins Cheezies left out on the dashboard of a Semi-Truck, so in the frosty morning he could have a cold treat; so much so, he had taken to putting them in the freezer, which does surprisingly change the flavour. He loved Tim Hortons coffee (3 sugars, 2 cream), best shared when regaling tales of his trucking adventures. He loved tinkering in his shop, too, or driving his truck listening to his audiobooks. He loved spending time with his children and puttering about with his dogs in-tow. An avid collector of junker vehicles with lofty goals of fixing them up.
It is with a very heavy heart to say the last years of his life were so challenging, making those dreams only that: dreams. This all being said, at this very moment, I can picture him toiling away on some engine while cussing it out for not acting accordingly, accompanied by my brother, a Thermos of coffee, cigarette in hand and dog at his side. The smell of hydraulic fluid mixed with the pounded dirt flooring of his garage. Having impromptu concerts in the kitchen with us both. Singing, no, rather screaming, the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody all out of tune. Quiet mornings with you sitting at the table, arms crossed, half asleep.
We will miss you, Cookie, miss your bear hugs, jokes and laughter. Your hot temper, gentle heart and how you always cried at the same two scenes in Independence Day (The Movie). How you had never fully watched Disney’s Robin Hood, your “mmmm’s,” when someone cooked the perfect meal and your strong working hands. We will miss you, all of you. The good, the bad, and most of all, the love you so abundantly shared with all of us.
With all my heart, I love you Dad.
