It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend Kathleen, mostly known as Kathy. On August 29th, 2024 Kathy went to be with the Lord and passed peacefully in her sleep at the young age of 60 in her home in Red Deer, AB. She left an impact on many people’s lives and will be remembered most by her husband Jules, daughters Katlyn (Jestin) & Nicole (Noah), brothers and sisters Brent, Brad (Barb), Les (Diane), Karen (Martin) & Wendy (Mark), and all her nieces and nephews. She was welcomed in heaven by her parents Alma & Donald, her children Annabelle and Joshua, and grandchildren Everleigh and Ezekiel. Kathy was an overachiever and a huge perfectionist. She tried her absolute best at everything she did and accomplished a lot in the time she had.
Kathy was born on November 29, 1963 in Brampton Ontario and lived in different parts of Ontario all throughout her childhood and into adulthood. Growing up she had many pets and loved all of them dearly, especially her pet poodle, Muffin. She also had a love for highland dancing and competed in many competitions. She even had the opportunity to travel to Scotland to compete there. After high school she went to College to become an accountant. In 1988 she got married to the love of her life Jules. Jules and Kathy celebrated their 36 year wedding anniversary on July 9th of this year and in 1996 they uprooted their life to plant roots in Alberta.
After many years of trying to have children they finally were blessed with their first child only a year after moving to Alberta. They welcomed Katlyn in 1997 and loved her dearly. Not expecting to have another child they were blessed with Nicole in 2001. Unfortunately while pregnant with Nicole Kathy had an accident which left her unable to work. Although this was a tragedy she made the most of the situation. She was able to be home full time to raise her kids and put her whole heart into making their lives memorable. She loved to bake with them and taught them everything she knew about cooking. She also loved to travel with them and took them on many adventures. She was most known for sharing her praises of her daughters and would tell the whole world how proud she was of all the achievements her daughters had accomplished.
Kathy had many dreams she wanted to achieve while on earth but unfortunately her time was cut short. Due to her accident her abilities were limited but that never stopped her from wanting to shoot for the stars. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met and never failed to make people laugh. Her smile, humour, and kind heart will be missed dearly by many. We may have lost someone special on earth but we know she will be with us every step of our journey rooting for us in Heaven.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 13th, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Parish. She will be laid to rest in her final resting place at Mount Calvary Cemetery to follow.
