It is with great sadness that we announce that Karen Lynn Edwards passed away April 15, 2018, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. A Celebration of life will be held, Thursday May 31, at 2:00p.m., at the Crammond Community Hall, HWY 22 and TWP 354.Refreshments will be provided by the Crammond Ladies.
Karen was born in Butte, Montana. She also lived at Flathead Lake, and in Missoula, Montana for many years. She met Ron at University of Montana and they were married in 1968. They made their home in Calgary, Alberta where Laurie and Craig were born, and where they pursued their teaching careers and built a life surrounded by many lasting friendships.
In 1979 Ron and Karen purchased an acreage near Caroline, Alberta, so they could experience rural life as Karen had, and in 1999 they built their dream home and have continued to live there, where they became very involved in the community. Many deep and valued friendships have developed over the years and both Ron and Karen are blessed to have been part of such a supportive group.
As the grandchildren arrived, they too were exposed to the rural life and all have become passionate campers, hunters, fishers and nature enthusiasts. Karen enjoyed the involvement with the grand children, and has taken an interest in their activities and achievements.
Karen enjoyed traveling, camping, knitting, crocheting and watching nature; a perfect day was rambling outdoors with family and friends and sharing her vast knowledge of the great outdoors.
Karen volunteered for 20 years with Girl Guides of Canada and for several other organizations, and finally with the Crammond Community Association.
Karen is survived by husband Ron, daughter Laurie (Craig) Fallis, son Craig (Laura Bentley) Edwards and grandchildren Bruce, Susanah, Rachael, Steven, Logan and Charlie.
The family is extremely grateful to the staff at the Moose and Squirrel Clinic in Sundre, the staff at Rocky Mountain House Home Care and the staff at the Red Deer Hospice.
Any contributions may be made to the pancreatic cancer research, the Ellis Bird farm, the Red Deer Hospice Society or to a charity of your choice.
