Judy Gloria Hovde

On January 18, 2025, Judy Gloria Hovde passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice, with her loved ones near. She was 70 years old.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Ted and Mary, and her brother Don (Vicki). She will be lovingly remembered by her partner Ken Williams; her sons Mathew Hovde (Caress) and Stephen Hovde; Ken’s daughter Andrea Williams (Charlie); grandchildren Amory, Zachary, Kenneth, Carston, and Cailin; siblings Pat and Ken; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born on March 8, 1954, Judy was the eldest of four children. Her family moved to Red Deer in 1967, where she graduated from high school in 1972. Over the years, Judy led a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful contributions to her community. As a mother, she devoted herself to raising her sons with care, dedication, and by chasing them around trying to keep them out of trouble.
Judy found fulfillment in her work and volunteer activities. She was an active member of CASARA (Civil Air Search and Rescue Association), where she earned numerous commendations for her dedication and service. Professionally, she worked for the City of Red Deer and later for Alberta Health Services (formerly David Thompson Health Region), where she showcased her exceptional bookkeeping skills, proudly earning a collection of certificates that reflected her commitment to professional growth.
Judy had a gift for connecting with people. Her warm smile, infectious laugh, and kind words made her a friend to many. She loved spending time with family and friends, delighting in sharing stories and laughter. A passionate traveler, Judy explored much of Canada, the Dominican Republic, Alaska, and Panama—her favorite destination. She always returned from her travels with captivating tales and new friendships.
At home, Judy found joy in gardening and nurturing her many flowers and plants, was a fan of live music, and had a deep love for baseball, delighting in cheering for her teams.
In honor of Judy, her family encourages all to find joy in simple things, cherish loved ones, and share kindness—values she held dear.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Red Deer Hospice for their compassionate care during Judy’s final months.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held on Saturday, March 8th, at 11am at the Sunnybrook United Church, 12 Stanton Street, Red Deer, AB.
