Jim “Jimmy” VanBuskirk

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim “Jimmy” VanBuskirk of Red Deer. A stoic man, Jim had been battling various ailments throughout the last few years of his life. He passed away peacefully. Jim will be remembered for being a humanitarian and how he cared for his fellow man. He was a social activist who believed in equality and fairness for all. He volunteered much of his personal time with his union to help protect and fight for workers’ rights. Jim was a caring husband and a good friend to many. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Joanne, as well as many family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Cleo and Jim VanBuskirk. At Jim’s request there will be no funeral service. The family would like to thank the staff on unit 31 at Red Deer Regional Hospital as well as Dr. John Julyan-Gudgeon for their compassionate care.
